Juan Soto ripped a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth and David Peterson tossed 6 2/3 strong innings, fueling the host New York Mets to a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night.

The lefthander pitched well into the seventh inning and Pete Alonso, Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo all drove in runs as the Mets beat the Brewers, 3-2, in the rubber game of the series before 42,241 at Citi Field.

James Gunn’s “Superman” is flying into theaters this month with David Corenswet in the title role and Nicholas Hoult as the villainous Lex Luthor. But that wasn’t the role Hoult auditioned for. The “Nosferatu” and “X-Men” star originally sought the role of Superman but lost out to Corenswet in auditions.

One of the little running press currents in the lead-up to next week’s release of James Gunn’s Superman has been the fact that both David Corwenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) auditioned for the title part,
