The search for a missing hiker in New York’s Adirondacks has been put on hold due to safety concerns. Leo DuFour, 22, of Quebec, set off on the Allen Mountain Trailhead in Newcomb on Nov. 29 and hasn’t been seen since.

Temperatures on the mountain are expected to dip below zero, with wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour creating wind chills of -20 at the summit, according to the NY DEC.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has reduced its search for Leo DuFour, a 22-year-old from Vaudreuil, Quebec, to a “limited continuous” operation due to extreme conditions and a lack of new leads. DuFour went missing after setting out to hike Allen Mountain in Essex County on Nov. 29.
