CBS12 News reporter Dani Travis is in Tampa where Milton has the potential to be the first major hurricane to hit the area in more than 100 years. Hillsborough County has almost 1.6 million residents. Best known for the bustling City of Tampa, now left looking like a ghost town Wednesday as Hurricane Milton is on their doorstep.

As Hurricane Milton inches closer, Tampa, Florida, received a downpour Wednesday afternoon. Tampa Bay, near the top of a long stretch of coastline that could be in the bull's-eye, has not taken a direct hit from a major hurricane in over a century.
