President Donald Trump’s administration is offering buyouts to federal employees to quickly reduce the government workforce. They don’t have a long time to decide.

USA TODAY reported that under current federal guidelines, only certain employees are eligible for severance pay.

On Tuesday, the Trump administration sent a memo to millions of federal workers offering a “deferred resignation,” which would allow them to leave their jobs immediately while retaining all pay and benefits for roughly eight months.

Federal employees who accept the buyout would be given 8 months of pay and benefits through September and are exempt from return-to-office policy.
