Sep 28, 2015 · Darlene, I forgot to mention - the other things I do before moving the tropicals indoors is to treat for insects. I usually apply a systemic (bayer) and spray with oil. I find that most plants that spend time outdoors wind up with a few bugs (mites, scale usually) but those are usually kept under control by predators outdoors.

It has thorns but if you pinch regularly (like I do) they hardly develop large thorns. I usually cut back branches to 2 leaves which usually encourages branching/ramification.

6. Mar 28, 2020. #6. Not that tough at all and many ficus like to get a bit dry. There are over 800 species and over a dozen easy for bonsai. Do not overwater a bare ficus, especially a willow leaf. The only one I ever killed was over watered when bare leafed.
